My Personal Journey to Seeking Wellness
Hi! I’m Kelly, and I’m so excited to welcome you to Seeking Wellness - a space to empower moms to create health for their families. The journey that led me here has been filled with obstacles, inspiring connections, and moments of serendipity - reflecting the twists and turns of life we all experience.
I’d love to share a little about my story, my family and how I can support you on your journey creating health and wellness for yourself and your loved ones!
A Foundation Rooted in Nature
Growing up on a ranch, I was fortunate to have plenty of room to run and play outdoors. My parents instilled in me a deep appreciation for nature and much of my childhood was spent with animals, riding horses, playing in streams, and exploring outdoors.
My mom leaned crunchy before it was trendy and one of my core memories includes being at a holistic shop and browsing the herbal remedies, daydreaming of owning my own shop one day. It’s taken years, plenty of unhealthy choices, and many steps backward, but here I am - creating a space and community dedicated to health, natural living, and empowering families to thrive.
My Journey to Wellness
As I moved through my twenties I dabbled in different diets, read many books, and spent a lot of time exercising and trying to recover from unhealthy habits formed in my teens and college years.
After college, I lived in Mexico for several months, and was struck by how healthy the traditional Mexican diet was - I had delicious plates of fruit with honey and granola for breakfast, hearty soups and fresh vegetables for lunch and a light dinner. That experience taught me so much about eating simple, fresh whole foods. I returned home and began my first career as a Spanish teacher. My journey with wellness continued and I began shifting my priorities, really working on clean eating and spending more time outdoors.

Later, I moved to South Korea where I again fell in love with traditional foods. Korean meals emphasize fresh food - lots of vegetables, fermented foods (kimchi, of course!), mushrooms, and…little to no fast food. I was struck by the differences between children in Korea and those in America and how much diet played a role in those differences.
Korean soups often contain a variety of roots, leafy greens and sprouts
When I returned to the US and started my own family, I brought those lessons with me, incorporating fresh, whole foods and mindful living into our daily lives.
Overcoming My Own Health Struggles
Over the years, I faced a variety of my own health issues. In my early teens I struggled with an eating disorder and body dysmorphia, followed by weight gain which affected my mental health. I had asthma, chronic sinus issues, fatigue, hormonal imbalances and became generally unhappy. In college I would get so sick for weeks and it would take forever to recover. Birth control caused depression, and in the end, finishing school was a challenge. A pivotal moment came when a doctor suggested I eliminate dairy, which marked the beginning of my journey toward better health.
When I lived in Korea, I became very ill with a long flare-up of asthma, joint pain, and fatigue. Upon returning to the U.S., I embraced an elimination diet, which again became a turning point. For the past 15 years, I’ve followed a gluten- and dairy-free lifestyle. I have also used programs like the Whole30 to refine our diet and find what works best for our family.
Navigating My Children’s Health Journeys
Like many moms, I developed a deeper understanding of health after having children. Our first challenges came in the form of food intolerances, including gluten, dairy, corn, soy, and more.
I turned to homeopathy to help with a variety of ailments - colic, eczema, teething. Over time, I relied on it more and more. Then came an even bigger challenge: Lyme disease and PANS/PANDAS. It was at this point that I really dug into learning more about the microbiome, herbal medicine, environmental toxins, and learned to combine a multitude of modalities to heal my children.
Homeopathy is a 200-year-old system of medicine that uses the principle of "like cures like”
Over the past seven years, I’ve learned so much from working with incredible professionals in functional medicine, homeopathy, and chiropractic care. Today, my children are thriving. We’ve relied on homeopathy, herbal remedies, energy medicine, supplements, and reducing toxic exposures to support their health.
